Waste Not, Want Not with scratchDC

Tomorrow, April 9, is Global Citizen’s A Day Without Waste. Global Citizen is an initiative of the Global Poverty Project. It’s a place to learn about issues and take action.

A Day Without Waste (ADWW) is intended to cut down on the close to 370,000 tons of trash Americans produce each year. Take part and get points to earn tickets for upcoming Global Citizen concerts like Kings of Leon, Edward Sharpe, and many others.

One way to take part is through Global Citizen’s ADWW National Dinner Party Day and fight back against food waste. Most items in the grocery store are flown thousands of miles, making our food supply responsible for 25% of the greenhouse emissions on the planet, plus a third of the food produced on the globe is wasted, amounting to 1.3 billion tons per year, or 2,600,000,000,000 pounds. That’s 254 pounds per person per year!

Cook for your friends as a form of conservation. And let scratchDC make it easy for you. We buy locally and seasonally whenever possible AND we use only compostable plant-based and post-consumer recycled materials from World Centric and Fabri-Kal Greenware. Sold? Great. Place your orders now for tomorrow’s Shrimp or Chicken and Veggie Enchiladas with a Jalapeño Cream Sauce (with a vegetarian option too).

Be part of the solution with scratchDC and throw the best dinner party in town.
